Pharmacists are crucial to pain management in hospital settings. Three posters presented at the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists 2023 Midyear Clinical Meeting and Exhibition delved deeper into the topic, examining the feasibility of a pharmacist-led opioid tapering intervention in orthopedic surgery, the role that hospital location plays in perioperative opioid use, and the usefulness of acetaminophen over tramadol for postoperative analgesia in gastrointestinal-related procedures.
