The chain will use Shipt to deliver prescriptions from 6,000 locations.

Delivery

CVS Pharmacy will now offer same-day delivery for prescriptions from 6,000 of its pharmacies nationwide, the majority of its locations. The medications and other products will be delivered by Shipt, a same-day delivery marketplace.

This service is in addition to CVS’s one- to two-day delivery service that is available nationally. Same-day delivery had been offered by CVS in some cities previously. Customers can choose same-day delivery using the CVS app, by sending a text message, or by calling their local pharmacy. The delivery charge is $7.99.

"A year ago, CVS Pharmacy redefined convenience for customers by introducing prescription delivery nationwide in order to extend the connection that our trusted, local pharmacists provide to their customers at our nearly 10,000 locations around the country," said Kevin Hourican, President of CVS Pharmacy. "Today we've taken another step forward by expanding same-day delivery nationwide and enhancing the experience with our On-Demand delivery service."

In addition to the prescriptions, customers can ask to have other health and household products added to the delivery order. This would include OTC products such as cold and flu remedies and pain relievers as well as baby, personal, and feminine care products. The delivery is then handled by Shipt.

Customers can also choose one- to two-day delivery of prescriptions from CVS via Shipt for a fee of $4.99.
