Starting next year, the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) will provide review courses and recertification resources for the Board of Pharmacy Specialties (BPS).

BPS has named ASHP one of its professional development program providers for seven years beginning on January 1, 2016.

“With the addition of BPS certifications in pediatrics and critical care pharmacy, ASHP is pleased to be able to add to our suite of top-quality BPS certification and recertification offerings,” said ASHP CEO Paul W. Abramowitz, PharmD, ScD (Hon.), FASHP. “ASHP was an early leader in the conceptualization and advancement of clinical pharmacy and specialization, and it is wonderful to be able to help this core and growing segment of our membership prepare to take on expanded patient care roles.”

ASHP’s offering will focus on the areas of ambulatory care pharmacy (in partnership with the American Pharmacists Association), critical care pharmacy, pediatric pharmacy, oncology pharmacy (in partnership with the American College of Clinical Pharmacy), and pharmacotherapy.

Courses for specialty recertification credit will be offered at ASHP meetings and through home-study modules. ASHP is the leading provider of continuing pharmacy education in the country.
