The medications will be delivered on the same day ordered during specified delivery time periods.

“We are always looking for new ways to offer customers ultimate convenience,” Dov Shenkman, Walgreens’group vice president of global inventory and transportation, told the Dallas Business Journal. “Delivery where customers want it, when they want it, is one way to engage with customers and remove some friction from their daily living.”

The deliveries are done by Deliv, based in Menlo Park, Calif., which provides similar services to Macy’s, Kohl’s, and Bloomindale’s in 17 markets nationwide.

In September, Kroger pharmacies began offering free home delivery at all of its 104 Michigan stores. The supermarket chain promised to deliver medications within 24 hours of receiving orders. The service is available Monday through Friday and is provided by iOmni LLC.

“If you or your children are sick, you don’t have to travel or take an ill family member to a store location to pick up needed medication,” said Jim Syszkowski, Kroger’s pharmacy director. “The free delivery service allows you to stay home and focus on your health or the health of a loved one."
