Walgreens celebrates opening of 6,000th store in New Orleans

Walgreens now has 6,000 stores, with opening in New Orleans

Walgreens celebrated the grand opening of its 6,000th store, with the opening of another store in New Orleans. Former NASCAR champion Richard Petty made an appearance, along with the Lilly/Joslin/Walgreens diabetes awareness NASCAR racecar. In honor of the grand opening, Walgreens offered free blood glucose screenings in 16 New Orleans stores with the help of Xavier University pharmacy students.
