Touro College is moving forward with plans to open a new pharmacy school campus in Manhattan for the 2008 school year. The Touro College of Pharmacy will occupy space in a renovated building on 125th Street in Harlem, across from the Apollo Theatre; the space will be shared with a new school of osteopathic medicine. Touro College already operates a college of pharmacy that is located in San Francisco and has other schools in Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Miami, and Queens and Brooklyn, N.Y. Manhattan has not had a pharmacy school since the closing of Columbia?s pharmacy program in 1976, although Long Island University, Rutgers University, and St. John?s also operate pharmacy schools in the New York metropolitan area.
