Physicians will be able to securely access patient medication histories through pharmacies that belong to the SureScripts electronic prescribing network. Physicians will be able to see a patient's medication records and pharmacy data, such as allergies and when drugs were dispensed, across all prescribers. Later this year, SureScripts will undertake a regional project to give consumers secure on-line access to their medication histories through collaboration with Medem, a national patient-provider communication network founded by AMA and other U.S. medical societies.
