The CDC Foundation, the Michigan Antibiotic Resistance Reduction (MARR) Coalition, and Meijer stores are launching a program called "Antibiotic Roundup" that will educate consumers about the importance of appropriate antibiotic use. The program encourages Michigan residents to find old, unused, or expired antibiotics in their medicine cabinets and refrigerators and bring them to their local Meijer pharmacies for disposal between Jan. 25 and April 25, 2006. Upon returning unused antibiotics, participants will receive educational materials about appropriate antibiotic use and compliance.
