Pharmacists divided over whether Medicare should require e-prescribing.
According to a Drug Topics online poll, a majority of respondents do not believe that the Medicare program should force physicians to adopt e-prescribing by 2011. In the poll, which was posted on the Drug Topics Web site in organizations have called on the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services to require it. In the poll, 14% believe that it would require a mandatory approach to foster widespread adoption of e-prescribing, while 27% not only support mandatory e-prescribing, they called for physicians to adopt this technology before 2011.
