More than one-third (36 percent) of pharmacists surveyed by Drug Topics believe expensive meals and gifts should be prohibited, but that drug companies should be allowed to provide modest meals and gifts to health care professionals.
Thirty-one percent of pharmacists surveyed said PhRMA's new marketing code is long overdue and seven percent believe PhRMA did the right thing by revising its marketing code to eliminate even the appearance of impropriety.
Almost a quarter of those surveyed (24 percent) believe PhRMA's new code goes too far and 2 percent expressed no opinion. A total of 533 votes were cast.
