Adapalene gel 0.3% (Differin) from Galderma Laboratories received FDA approval for the treatment of moderate to moderately severe acne. The higher concentration is a more potent formulation of Differin 0.1%, previously approved for the treatment of acne. Adapalene is a topical retinoid in a clear, odorless, oil-free, and alcohol-free gel that is applied directly to the face or affected area and works by controlling buildup inside the pores that leads to the formation of acne. According to the manufacturer, Differin 0.3% will be available by prescription next month.
