The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services will speed up its processing of low-income subsidy eligibility claims processing.
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services is implementing new software upgrades that promise to speed up responses for low-income subsidy (LIS) eligibility claims, the agency asserts. Beginning June 15, CMS will address the data lags inherent in the current monthly process by moving to daily submission and processing. Prescription drug plans that qualify for auto-/facilitated enrollment may receive LIS eligibility notifications of File for Auto- and Facilitated Enrollments multiple times each month. The agency hopes that pharmacy systems should have more timely LIS enrollment information for beneficiaries residing in states that utilize this improved functionality, beginning in the next few weeks.
