Latebreakers: Feds propose new rules for Medicare Part B docs

CMS has proposed new Medicare Part B payment rates and policies for physicians for 2008. Among the provisions, physicians will have to report hemoglobin or hematocrit data on claims for antianemia drugs for cancer patients, vendors supplying physicians with drugs under the competitive acquisition program (CAP) must verify that the products ordered have been administered, and manufacturers must assign a proportionate value to each drug sold in bundles based on the dollar value of the units of each product when reporting their average sales price.
