If you’re wondering how the “pharmacy of the future” will look and operate, an independent chain in Ohio and a medical school are set to debut their version on Monday.

Ritzman Pharmacy at NEOMED is collaboration between the independent pharmacy based in Wadsworth, Ohio, and the Northeast Ohio Medical University, Rootstown, Ohio

Located in the university’s Education and Wellness Center on the college’s campus, the new pharmacy promises to redefine the pharmacy experience by offering patients a holistic approach to wellness.

“We couldn’t be more thrilled with this new pharmacy of the future, the finishing piece needed to round out our integrated healthcare ecosystem,” said Hannah Cross, RPh, PharmD, an NEOMED alumna who is managing pharmacist for Ritzman Pharmacies.

“Personally, I am proud to be at the forefront of this effort to promote community-oriented, whole-person health. The pharmacy experience can be so much more than an errand to check off a list-and we know that our customers and patients will value what Ritzman Pharmacy at NEOMED is offering,” she said.

Patients will have access to a membership-based medical fitness facility, primary care services, physical therapy, and medication therapy management.

Additionally, products offered will include fitness and activity trackers such as Bluetooth scales and smartphone thermometers, as well as pharmacist-recommended pre- and post-workout supplements, protein powders, and energy boosters.

The pharmacy will also be stocked with homeopathic and natural remedies and Ohio-made products, including apparel and memorabilia.
