Educational campaign to launch for HFA transition
The Allergy and Asthma Foundation of America (AAFA) will launch a campaign to educate patients and physicians to help ease the transition to hydrofluoroalkane (HFA) inhalers from the less environmentally friendly chlorofluorocarbon (CFC)-containing versions. The campaign will include distribution of brochures, an information phone line-1-(800) 7-ASTHMA-and a Web site- http://www.transitionnow.org/-which will be available on June 22. AAFA also encourages patients to talk to their healthcare providers about making the change, since the FDA has mandated that all CFC-based inhalers be removed from the market by 2009.
