Docs and R.Ph.s are No. 1 source of referrals to patient assistance programs

How do patients find out about AstraZeneca's patient assistance programs? The Wilmington, Del., firm did a yearlong survey of 12,000 patients and found that doctors and pharmacists were the first source (35%) of referral. Following that, AZ brochures left in hospitals and pharmacies accounted for 14%. Remaining contributing factors include: advertising, (9%), AZ Web sites (7%), community programs (6%), family/friend (5%), and other/don't know (24%).
