On a recent trip to Laos, one of our editors discovered a mobile pharmacy peddling herbal medications for everything from chickenpox to lung cancer.
I can’t attest to the efficacy of any of the herbal medications pictured here. I can only report that I came across this mobile pharmacy and the accompanying pharmacopeia on a cart on one of the main streets in the Laotian town of Laung Prabang on a recent trip (Former President Obama visited this Unesco World Heritage Site in 2016). The town’s botanical garden boasts extensive “ethno-botanic” gardens, several of which showcase plants used for medicine for humans-as well as for elephants.
