Medicis issues recall of two lots of antibiotic Solodyn.

Azathioprine (Azasan) 75 mg tablets found in a bottle labeled as minocycline HCl (Solodyn) 90 mg extended-release tablets has stimulated a voluntary recall by Medicis. The affected lot numbers of minocycline are B080037 and B080038 (exp: 12/09) and are packaged as 30-count bottles. According to Medicis, taking azathioprine instead of the antibiotic represents a health hazard and safety risk to patients. Solodyn is manufactured by AAIPharma, Inc. under contract to Medicis and the two affected lots were produced during February 2008.
