Earlier this month, the .pharmacy domain name championed by the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy (NABP) became available for use by pharmacies and pharmacy-related entities.
The domain name was launched in 2014 to provide consumers with a way to identify safe and legal online pharmacies. During a limited registration period, NABP approved more than 300 .pharmacy domain names. Those entities were eligible to register the domain names beginning in May.
Entities seeking the .pharmacy domain name must submit an application, application fee, and supporting documentation to NABP. The content of the proposed website must be available for NABP to review either on an existing website or a staging site. If approved, the name can then be registered through one of NABP’s participating registrars.
In its review of websites that sell prescription medications, NABP found that 96% do not comply with pharmacy laws and standards. Click here to start the application process.
