The American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) announced plans to hold the 2020 Midyear Clinical Meeting in December as an all-virtual experience.

The meeting, which was originally scheduled to be held in New Orleans on December 6-10, 2020, will now be held virtually over the same dates, ASHP announced on its website.

The announcement comes in light of the ongoing coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic, during which many pharmacy and medical conferences have opted for virtual experiences in order to follow public safety measures.

“We know that the Midyear meeting is an essential event for our members, exhibitors, and other meeting participants,” ASHP said on its website. “However, the safety of our meeting participants will always be our first priority. During this unprecedented time, we are committed to supporting you and your colleagues as you care for your patients.”

According to ASHP, the organization is planning to deliver all of the essential activities planned for Midyear, including its educational programming, Residency Showcase, poster sessions, Personnel Placement Services, exhibit program, and networking opportunities.

On its initial FAQ page, available at midyearashp.org, ASHP noted that it anticipates registration to go live in late summer or early fall.
