Work group studying how to measure R.Ph.s' performance
A Pharmacy Quality Alliance work group is drafting a starter set of measures to evaluate pharmacy performance under Medicare Part D. This is a part of CMS' pay-for-performance approach, under which health plans would pay pharmacists who perform according to metrics identified by industry stakeholders. The work group hopes to have seven measures selected and ready for testing by later this year. Separately, CMS official S. Lawrence Kocot told attendees of the recent NACDS Pharmacy & Technology Conference in San Diego that the agency would now accept changes midyear from health plans to the design of their medication therapy management programs.
