Bruce Kneeland, community pharmacy consultant, discusses educating physicians in regards to new medications in an interview with Total Pharmacy.
Bruce Kneeland: “The new medications that come out, they are typically expensive, physicians may not be completely aware of what they are or how they work, and there’s a huge opportunity for pharmacists to set themselves up as an agent for a physician to contact when they have a question about a new medication. What it’s indications, contraindications and drug interactions might be. I’ve known several pharmacists who take pride in being the go-to pharmacist for the physicians in the area, for them to get a phone call and provide them with unbiased information about the efficacy of the drug.”
