A lawsuit against Walgreens has been filed in federal court by a woman who claims that a medication error caused her to have a miscarriage. Instead of being given a prescription for Materna, a prenatal vitamin, she received Matulane (procarbazine HCl, Sigma-Tau Pharmaceuticals), a chemotherapy drug used to treat Hodgkin's disease. The patient said her prescription was filled at a Walgreens pharmacy near her suburban St. Louis, Mo., home. Walgreens said it has reached a resolution with the family and declined further comment.
