CMS has directed Part D plans to give beneficiaries another 60 days to transition to drugs on their formularies or to appeal to remain on their current medication. The extension was announced in HHS secretary Mike Leavitt's progress report on the first month of Part D. In addition to pledging to quickly fix remaining problems, Leavitt stated that the "efforts of pharmacists over the last month have been nothing short of heroic. They have been selfless, compassionate, and committed to service."
