Last year, the National Institutes of Health (NIH) convened a State-of-the-Science Conference on Symptom Management in Cancer: Pain, Depression, and Fatigue to examine current knowledge regarding the management of pain, depression, and fatigue in oncology patients and to identify possible areas for future research. The final statement of the NIH State-of-the-Science Panel was published in the August 6 issue of the Journal of the National Cancer Institute. It is also available on the Consensus Program Web Site at http://consensus.nih.gov.
