Clinicians will soon be able to treat bone metabolism and disease in their patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) using the first guidelines issued by the National Kidney Foundation (NKF) on the management of this condition. The Foundation?s Kidney Disease Outcomes Quality Initiative (K/DOQI), which provides evidence-based clinical practice guidelines for all phases of kidney disease and related complications, recently released Clinical Practice Guidelines for Bone Metabolism and Disease in Chronic Kidney Disease. The guidelines were published as a supplement to the October issue of the American Journal of Kidney Disease.
