NCPA calls on Wal-Mart to set good example in PBM industry
The National Community Pharmacists Association urges Wal-Mart to uphold quality standards in its pharmacy benefit management business

Wal-Mart CEO Lee Scott has announced that the company is planning to enter the pharmacy benefit management market. In response to the news, the National Community Pharmacists Association said that while it decries some of Wal-Mart's practices, such as its $4 generic offer, which has commoditized prescription medications, the giant chain has the size and wherewithal to change the PBM industry for the better. NCPA hopes Wal-Mart will uphold standards of transparency and fiduciary responsibility in its PBM venture.
