The NACDS Foundation awarded $320,000 in pharmacy scholarships at its annual meeting in Scottsdale, Ariz., April 30 to May 3.

The National Association of Chain Drug Stores (NACDS) Foundation awarded $320,000 in pharmacy scholarships at its annual meeting in Scottsdale, Ariz., April 30 to May 3.

NACDS’ Foundation Pharmacy Partners Scholarship Program provides awards from $1,000 to $20,000 to scholarship funds at each of the 124 U.S. accredited pharmacy schools to assist pharmacy students working toward their PharmD degrees.

“Due to the overwhelming support of benefactors, the NACDS Foundation has had the distinct honor of providing nearly $3 million in scholarships since the program’s inception in 1997,” said Edith Rosato, RPh, president of the NACDS Foundation. “This staggering amount is quite a testament to the commitment to education on the part of the pharmacy and pharmaceutical industries.”

This year, the largest NACDS Foundation scholarship awards were:

  • $20,000 Apotex Corp. Wayne Roberts Memorial Scholarship to Concordia University School of Pharmacy, Mequon, Wis.
  • $12,500 Boehringer Ingelheim Pharmaceuticals Inc. Scholarship to University of the Pacific Thomas J. Long School of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, Stockton, Calif.
  • $10,000 Abbott – Pharmaceutical Products Division Scholarship to Husson University School of Pharmacy, Bangor, Maine
  • $10,000 NACDS Foundation Scholarship to Creighton University Medical Center School of Pharmacy and Health Professions, Omaha, Neb.
  • $7,500 NACDS Foundation Scholarship to Long Island University Arnold & Marie Schwartz College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences in Brooklyn, N.Y.
  • $7,500 NACDS Foundation Scholarship to Harding University College of Pharmacy, Searcy, Ark.
  • $7,500 to the College of Notre Dame of Maryland School of Pharmacy, Baltimore
