The National Association of Chain Drug Stores applauded a proposed dispensing fee increase for pharmacies serving Medicaid patients in South Carolina. The South Carolina Department of Health and Human Services recently announced it has petitioned the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services to increase the dispensing fee paid to pharmacies for filling Medicaid prescriptions from $4.05 to $9.94. The new dispensing fee would apply to drug reimbursements affected by the Deficit Reduction Act and must be approved by CMS in order to take effect.
