Market research firm Health Industry Insights is predicting that a major shift will occur in the way pharmaceutical distributors operate over the next few years. In a recently published report, the firm predicted the shift will be from an inventory focus to an information focus. Senior research analyst Eric Newmark warned, "Logistics and inventory management services are becoming commodities, and distributors are evolving toward more of an information broker operating model. Those distributors that are late to the table in creating demand visibility for manufacturers will watch helplessly as customers transfer business to their competitors."
