Independent Pharmacies Expand Point-of-Care Capabilities

On April 30, 2022, Drug Topics® and Total Pharmacy® held the first Total Pharmacy Solutions Summit of the year. The exclusive virtual event featured thought leaders and experts across the independent pharmacy space, with featured sessions focused on leveraging best practices in technology, staffing and retention, point-of-care models, and more.
Steven F. Moore, PharmD, Vice President of Condo Pharmacy and a CPESN Luminary, kicked off the day with the keynote address, where he shared some of the strategies implemented by Condo Pharmacy to provide point-of-care testing during the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Believe it or not, prior to COVID-19, pharmacists didn’t necessarily have the scope of practice rights to do CLIA-waved testing,” Condo explained.
