Eisai award recognizes R.Ph.s' role in Alzheimer's care

Do you provide exemplary care to Alzheimer's disease patients or their caregivers? Do you have a special program in place to manage their care? If you answered yes to either of these questions, you may be eligible to win a prestigious award from Eisai Inc.

For five years now, Eisai, maker of Aricept (donepezil HCl), has offered an annual recognition award to pharmacists who have made a difference in the care of Alzheimer's patients. For 2007, Eisai is collaborating with Drug Topics to offer this award. In addition, some changes in the ground rules of this award program have been instituted. Here, in a nutshell, are the new rules:

Name of award: hhc (human health care) Pharmacist Recognition Award

What are the criteria? Licensed pharmacists who can demonstrate that their educational or management program over the past 12 months has improved outcomes or quality of life for Alzheimer's patients. Nominees must be prepared to show verification and documentation of their contributions.

When are nominations due? July 16, 2007

What are the awards? An hhc Crystal Award, an honorarium of $3,000, and coverage in Drug Topics

Who will review the entries? A panel of independent judges selected by Drug Topics

How many winners will be selected? Three

When will winners be selected? September 2007
