Total Pharmacy Solutions Summit Summer 2026: Closing Remarks
The Total Pharmacy Solutions Summit Summer 2026 concluded with a powerful call to action for community pharmacies looking to balance policy, people, and profitability.
Keynote speakers Pooja Babbrah and Seth Joseph, from NCPDP and Summit Health, respectively, highlighted that clinical services often appear as cost centers rather than revenue lines until they hit a specific scale, prompting the proposal of FARMS (Pharmacy Health Alliance for Reimbursement Medical Services), regional alliances designed to build momentum between pharmacies and health plans.
Regulatory readiness was also a major focus at this summer’s Total Pharmacy Solutions Summit Summer event, with experts Justin Macy, PharmD, JD, and Andrew Funk, PharmD, from the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy (NABP), emphasizing that small dispensers must finalize DSCSA policies and procedures before the November deadline to combat illegitimate products.
Kevin Boesen, PharmD, chief commercial officer at Outcomes, detailed how comprehensive medication reviews (CMRs) are returning as a vital health plan star rating measure, noting that AI-driven documentation and complexity scoring will soon reward pharmacists who handle more intricate patient cases.
The summit also tackled high-growth clinical areas, with legal experts Lucas Morgan, Esq, and Dae Lee, PharmD, Esq, CPBS, shareholders at Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney, warning that while compounding peptides and GLP-1s offer significant revenue opportunities, success depends on rigorous legal due diligence to mitigate risk.
Furthermore, Mike Johnston, CPhT-Adv, CEO of the National Pharmacy Technician Association (NPTA), underscored the necessity of upskilling pharmacy technicians to expand service capacity and reduce pharmacist burnout.
Looking ahead to the September 19th summit, the industry remains focused on a “patients first” model where clinical and preventative services serve as the foundation for long-term pharmacy sustainability.
