Together Rx Access’ popular prescription saving program, through which uninsured consumers saved on hundreds of brand name and generic prescriptions, will end next year.

Consumers can still enroll in the program through the end of the year, but the Together Rx Access card will no longer be honored at participating pharmacies after February 28, 2014.

“We have determined that individuals and families who need help obtaining their prescription medicines may be better served by the health coverage options available through the state and federal health insurance exchanges, expanded Medicaid programs in select states, or by individual company prescription assistance programs. As a result, the Together Rx Access Program will close at the end of the year,” read a statement released by Together Rx Access.

The statement said the organization’s website will continue to provide information to uninsured individuals and their families about ways to save on prescriptions.

Pharmaceutical companies created Together Rx Access to help provide Americans with affordable access to prescriptions.
