Gary Pelletier, director and team leader for Pfizer Helpful Answers, was recently appointed the Chairman of the Board of Managers of the Together Rx Access program. The Together Rx Access card was created by several leading pharmaceutical manufacturers to help working Americans and their families gain access to savings on prescriptions at their community pharmacies.

A natural choice for the role, Pelletier heads up Pfizer’s family of programs designed to help the uninsured and underinsured receive Pfizer medications either free or at reduced cost. Pelletier supports Together Rx Access because “people save an average of 25% to 40% off the retail price. There are savings on over 300 brand medications, and savings are also available on generics,” Pelletier said.

One of Pelletier’s primary goals as chairman is to communicate with patients about how the healthcare reform law affects them. “Over the next 2 years, there will be a lot of need for information about the health reform law and what it means for them. We want to make sure people are armed with [information],” Pelletier said.

With that goal in mind, Together Rx Access has added a section to its website (

) dedicated to healthcare reform. The section is for people “who want to see the latest part of the law to be implemented and how they may be impacted. There is a lot of confusion and misinformation, so it tries to consolidate all the facts,” Pelletier said.

“His leadership and vision will guide our continuing commitment to helping uninsured Americans access the prescription medications they need to stay healthy and treat chronic conditions - which is the best way to manage overall healthcare costs,” said Roba Whiteley, executive director of Together Rx Access.
