There are lots of reasons to attend the NCPA’s Annual Convention: the workshops, the exhibits, the camaraderie, the chance to take part in the organization’s decision making.
Drug Topics took a walk around the convention and asked several attendees what they get out of coming to NCPA 2018.
Donald R. Smith, RPh is owner and pharmacist of The Medicine Man Pharmacy in Post FAlls, ID.
"It gives me a chance for networking, continuing education, and representing our state.”
Smith was a delegate to the convention from Idaho.
Shawnte Robinson, PharmD, is with Hayat Pharamacy in Milwaukee, WI.This was her first time at NCPA's Annual Convention.
“I heard so many good things about it and wanted to see what it had to offer. I’ve met a lot of people and got to see about how they do things. I also saw some workflow solutions.”
Nathan Buerkle, PharmD, is in the process of buying The Drug Store in Haskell, TX.
“It is my first time here. The current owner attends and we are in the buy-out process and he wanted us to go. For me, as a new owner, I want to make sure I understand as much as I can. I want to have a better grasp of the challenges and opportunities.”
Mary Jane Buerkle is marketing manager at The Drug Store in Haskell, TX.
“This conference is a chance to network and discuss best practices. It gives you ideas, not just for us but for the profession.”
Clint Hopkins, PharmD, Owner-Pharmacist, Pucci’s Pharmacy in Sacramento, CA.
“This is a first time for me. Coming here gives me hope for independent pharmacy because of the advocacy efforts that NCPA is creating. It is a grassroots effort of independent pharmacists who are coming together. We’re networking and exchanging ideas and collaborating.”
Joel Hockman, Owner, Pucci’s Pharmacy
“Like any profession, you have to be passionate about your profession. You have to seize the opportunity. NCPA does a great job with its position statements. It should generate more enthusiasm with pharmacists across the country.
Robyn Amberg, exhibitor, Prescribe Wellness
“Two things: as an exhibitor It is a great opportunity to see pharmacists and owners in person. We can solidify partnerships. Second, there is the educational variety of the continuing education, and the schedule of the meeting allows me to attend continuing education.”
