PBMs must meet new rules on transparency, drug switching in Maryland

The Maryland legislature has passed five bills that regulate pharmacy benefit managers.

Maryland just passed five bills regulating pharmacy benefit managers. The bills impose on PBMs new requirements they must meet involving:

•Therapeutic interchanges. PBMs must obtain prior authorization from a prescriber before drug switching can occur and share information about the substitution with patients.
•
