A study comparing different brands of drug vials uncovers which one offers most protection against light and moisture.
Which prescription package stacks up the best in terms of the following three criteria:
• Child-resistant cap
• Moisture permeation
• Light transmission
SPC Technologies, a partnership of researchers and professors from the Duquesne University Graduate School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Pittsburgh, did a study comparing nine brands. It found that the Screw-Loc vial from Rexam came out with the highest scores. The researchers noted that with many prescription drugs costing a bundle these days, it makes sense for them to be stored in containers that can provide the best protection against light and moisture.
