Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) is underdiagnosed, undertreated, and often misunderstood by both physicians and the general public, according to a new report, Irritable Bowel Syndrome in Women: The Unmet Needs. The report was released by the Society for Women?s Health Research (SWHR), an advocacy organization based in Washington, D.C. The SWHR recently held a media briefing to present the findings of the report and launch its educational initiative, called Talk IBS.
