Michigan AG finds drug price variations

The investigation looked at prices at 200 pharmacies in nine communities for 11 medications not currently listed on the site. The investigation found price differences of nearly $100 for prescriptions of Ambien (zolpidem, Sanofi-Aventis) in Detroit and Lansing.

An investigation of prescription drug prices at selected pharmacies by Michigan Attorney General Mike Cox found wide differences, leading to a call to expand the state's Department of Community Health's drug price comparison Web site (
