Little change in Part D enrollment for 2007

The Medicare Part D prescription drug plan market changed little with the second open-enrollment period, despite changes in plan benefits and formularies.

In a report on the Medicare Part D market, HealthLeaders-InterStudy said that the Medicare Part D prescription drug plan market changed little with the second open-enrollment period, despite changes in plan benefits and formularies. UnitedHealthcare continued to have the largest market share by adding 218,000 beneficiaries, a 5% rise since August 2006, to give it nearly 4.7 million beneficiaries nationally and a 28% share of enrollees. Humana had the second-largest plan, with 3.5 million beneficiaries.
