Ill. groups commit to statewide e-Rx program

February 26, 2007

In an effort to drive e-prescribing across the state, some healthcare industry stakeholders have joined to form the Illinois e-Prescribing Collaborative. The group brings together Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois and UnitedHealthcare, as well as physician, business, hospital, and patient advocacy groups. Blue Cross will cover the initial costs of implementation for the first 500 doctors in the state. The group also pledges to provide financial and technical support for all Illinois doctors. The collaborative follows on the heels of other recent initiatives that seek to encourage doctors to adopt e-prescriptions by offering free software and technical support.
