In the second part of our interview with Miranda Rochol, she discusses challenges regarding digital prescription solutions and the financial burdens these solutions are designed for pharmacists to overcome.

Among new technologies and a slew of health care entities necessary to ensure valued care in the US, collaboration and integration of patient data becomes more and more difficult. With the help of digital prescription solutions used to map out a patient’s health care journey, pharmacists will have more time to focus on a variety of pharmacy services instead of constantly worrying about proper dispensing of medications.

Miranda Rochol, Senior Vice President of Provider Solutions at Prescryptive Health, recently caught up with Drug Topics at the National Council for Prescription Drug Programs (NCPDP) 2025 Annual Conference, held May 5 to May 7 in Scottsdale, Arizona. With expertise in turning physical prescriptions into digital solutions integrated with today’s technology, Rochol provided insights into the evolution of pharmacy prescriptions and how recent technological changes have been so impactful at community pharmacies.

“There are so many different pharmacy management systems and so many different ways that each one does it differently,” Rochol told Drug Topics. “There’s also historically only been one dominant e-prescribing intermediary or network in the industry. A lot of those systems were built to only support one. It’s not that they weren’t agreeable to more, there just weren’t any. So, they only coded their systems to support one connection.”

As new systems arise and further connectivity is established, digital prescription solutions—like those offered by Prescryptive—will be able to significantly benefit pharmacists and their patients. With a 2-fold approach at saving pharmacists time and providing more patient transparency, overcoming the integration of these solutions is key to the future of a more integrated pharmacy, and health care, network.
