Mylan's generic levothyroxine removed from Florida's negative formulary.
Generic levothyroxine sodium could soon be available again to patients in Florida. A judge has Mylan had filed a petition in August 2007 challenging the decision. The Pittsburgh firm pointed out that its levothyroxine is the only generic considered therapeutically equivalent to four brand versions, including Synthroid, Levoxyl, Levothroid, and Unithroid. Hailing the judge's decision, Mylan said removing its product from the negative formulary means consumers will now have access to a lower cost drug, which will save the state millions of dollars.
