The products will be stocked in the retail chain's digestive section.
Duane Reade has agreed to provide shelf space in all of its stores for Florastor and Florastor Kids, which is used for the prevention and management of diarrhea. The products will be stocked in the retail chain's digestive section, next to products such as Imodium.
Previously, the product was a behind-the-counter item. "We're very excited about this deal with Duane Reade. It's a great opportunity for the Florastor brand to reach a new consumer base," Mary Berry, U.S. marketing manager for Biocodex, Inc., the makers of Florastor, said.
Mark Schumacher, Duane Reade's digestive care category manager, said moving Florastor out of the vitamin/supplement section makes sense. "We're providing our consumers with an alternative and more natural way to prevent and treat diarrhea and its symptoms," he said.
