NABP has awarded DMEPOS (durable medical equipment, prosthetics, orthotics, and supplies) accreditation to Advanced Diabetes Supply, a division of North Coast Medical Supply, Carlsbad, Calif. The pharmacy is the first to receive accreditation through the association's DMEPOS accreditation program. Tim Cady, president of Advanced Diabetes Supply, told Drug Topics, "NABP was outstanding. Its representatives were very organized and knowledgeable. The group is a new player, but everyone seemed knowledgeable. They set a timeline to put recommendations together. They came out to survey us, and we received approval within three to four weeks. It was an unannounced visit. The surveyors were professional and found our company is running properly. The process was challenging for us. It was a long process. We spent almost a year putting together a Quality Assurance Plan that was a 600-page binder. We did our homework and because we're accredited, we have the ability to [competitively] bid."
