Diabetes: New treatments on the horizon
Treatment for diabetes is about to take several new turns. It is too early to start ordering new products, but research and development pipelines are beginning to bulge. Look for islet-cell transplants that eliminate the need for insulin, at least one new class of drugs based on gut hormones, and new treatments for metabolic syndrome to move out of the pipeline and into diabetes treatment centers.
