CVS/pharmacy has raised a record-breaking $4.4 million for amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) research through its in-store fund-raising efforts, which took place from June 8 to 28. The chain said this is the seventh year it has organized this fund-raising campaign. ALS, a progressive degeneration of motor nerves in the brain and spinal cord leading to paralysis and death, is an orphan disease that has no known cause or cure.
