CMS received over 6,300 bids from DME suppliers in first round of bidding
Over 6,300 DME suppliers participated in first round of competitive bidding

CMS has reportedly received more than 6,300 bids from suppliers of durable medical equipment (DME) during the first round of a Medicare competitive bidding program. The first round includes 10 metropolitan areas. The second round, announced earlier this month, will add 70 areas, including New York, Los Angeles, and Chicago regions. The program is expected to go nationwide in 2009.
