The American Academy of Pediatrics now recommends a two-dose series of the varicella vaccine for children 12 months through 12 years of age, with the doses separated by at least three months.

The American Academy of Pediatrics now recommends a two-dose series of the varicella vaccine for children 12 months through 12 years of age, with the doses separated by at least three months. Children without evidence of immunity who are 13 years of age or older should receive two doses of varicella vaccine separated by at least 28 days. In addition, the academy now recommends that all children receive the hepatitis A vaccine at one year of age (12-23 months) as a two-dose series, with each dose administered at least six months apart.
